The House and Cabin are one of seven places chosen for the annual Lopez Island Home Tour for September 2015.
This octagon hand-crafted post and beam house with water view is an island gem of craftsmanship and location. This one of a kind 1300 square foot house is an artistic arrangement of two story living area with many south facing windows and wood beamed ceiling with large skylights.
This island treasure is tastefully decorated with antiques and appointed with local art, located at the end of road in a very quiet area. The house is across the road from the 45 acre Shark Reef Sanctuary with walking trails to the water and a view of Olympic Mountains and the San Juan lighthouse. The house is located 10 minutes from village and 20 minutes from the ferry landing.
The main house is available only from June 19 through September 30, 2015 and is rented with a four night minimum. See the Reservations page for rates and policies.
“This was a wonderful little escape for us. Thank you for the use of your beautiful, quirky home. We especially loved the bridge and the magnificent views from all the windows. The sun is rising, the coffee is brewing, the air is sweet and we don’t want to leave.” —Tara & Co, Spokane, WA.
There are two bedrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. A catwalk bridge connects the two upstairs rooms. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed under skylights, large south facing windows, and view of the water.
The downstairs bedroom has a queen poster bed with view of the water and French doors opening out onto the deck. The bathroom has a shower and a large claw foot tub, perfect for soaking.
A comfortable seating area and wood stove make a cozy place to relax, read, or enjoy music. The piano is a delight to play and resounds in the octagon space.
The large deck provides a great outdoor experience with pleasant views of the yard and water. The yard includes terraced gardens and an ornamental pond in the front yard and spacious lawn in the midst of big fir trees in the back yard. Views from the back yard include the islands near Shark Reef Park and beyond to the Straits of Juan de Fuca. Deer, eagles and ravens are common sights in the the yard.
